Areas of Expertise
Clare has 23 years of experience in commercial litigation including insurance law, contractual breaches and professional negligence claims. Clare is also a specialist in equine and animal law.
As part of the Business Services Department Clare offers commercial advice to clients in relation to all aspects of company and commercial law, both contentious and non-contentious. Expertise includes formations, sales, purchases and mergers of businesses, shareholder and partnership agreements, compromise agreements and commercial contracts of all types.
Clare is also Head of the Private Client Department and works with a number of highly regarded financial intermediaries to offer effective tax planning and estate management for high net worth clients.
Clare is recommended by Legal 500 (2013) for Commercial Litigation; Contentious trusts and probate; Personal tax, trusts and probate. Clare Strowbridge at Hutton's is described as "a delight to work with as she is cool under fire."
- Walton v Allman  EWHC 3325 (Ch); 2015 WLR (D) 469 Legal precedent set: the court could make a charging order under the Charging orders Act 1979 over the beneficial interest of a judgement debtor in the property of a third party non debtor without quantifying the beneficial interest.
- Templeton Insurance-v-Motorcare Warranties and others £6m constructive trust etc claim by underwriters against insurance agents: represented all 7 defendants in one of the longest running trials in the Commercial Division of the High Court in London. Four defendants successfully exonerated with costs awarded against the claimant.
- Marquis of Bleinheim v. Searle: High Court proceedings for breach of intellectual property rights. Successfully defeated substantial claim for damages.
- Edwards v Edwards – contentious probate. Secured estate comprising business, land and properties for illegitimate children of intestate deceased.
Interests and Skills
Kept busy with children, dogs, cat and parrot but in spare time enjoys tennis, sailing, and gardening. Fluent in Spanish, passable in French and Catalan.
